| Creating
a New Task
To create a task simply
enter/select the information on the form and click "Submit".
The new task will appear on the Task List. See below for specific fields.
Issue
ID
When a task is being created, no task ID will exist. Once the task is
submitted, the ID will be assigned.
Date:
The current time and date. (Time zone is GMT - Mountain Time).
Request Type:
Select the Request Type.
Select the Request Type from the drop down box.
- Product Change
-- A task that affects the WinFlex user interface (.CPY, KEY file,
or question changes) for your products or another product aspect.
Example: Adding a question to particular product and tab.
- Internet
Update -- A task to post, modify, or create an Internet Update.
May also be used to report a problem with Internet Updating. Example:
A request to move an update to the "live" site.
- WinFlex Bug
-- A report for a bug that appears to be WinFlex system related
(non-company specific). Example: A bug report that User Preferences
are not being saved.
- Engine Update
-- A task to update engine files for a company disk build or some other
purpose. (WinFlex Web). Example: A task attaching updated engine
files w/ a request to build company disks.
- Build
-- A task that deals with company, winflex system, or other build issues.
May be an install question. Example: A request to have final disks built
for a CD release.
- Report Values
-- A task that deals with values that appear in WinFlex concepts.
Example: A request to review a particular case file with unexpected
values on a Split Dollar report.
- Company Help
File -- A task that deals with an addition or change to the
company help file. Example: A request to change the "What's New"
section in the company help file.
- Feature Request
-- A request for a change or addition to WinFlex or WinFlex Web
system functionality. (not a bug). Example: A request to
allow users to set default reports for printing.
- General Question
-- A question that does not fit into any of the other Request Types.
Example: An inquiry as to why Internet Updating is so incredibly slick?
- WinFlex Web
Bug -- A report for a bug in WinFlex Web. Example: A bug
report that User Preferences are not being saved.
- WebTrack
Task -- A bug or suggestion for the WebTrack system. Example:
A report that WebTrack won't save your user profile settings.
Project:
Select the Project
Select the project that is applicable for the current task. If your
company has multiple distributions and this task applies to only one,
select that distribution as the project. (Note: You can create this list
via the Admin options)
Version(s):
Specify either the WinFlex or Company version (or both).
Specify the version the task applies to. May be multiple versions.
Priority:
Select the priority.
Select the priority/severity level for the current task.
Subject:
Enter the subject of the task.
Enter a detailed subject of the task in a succinct statement. Be
as detailed as possible as this will be the main task identified on the
task list.
NOTE: This will not be editable once task is submitted.
Detailed
Description:
Enter a detailed description of the task.
Enter a detailed description of the task. This section should
include all details that you couldn't include in the subject. For
CPY changes, items such as the product, tab, new question options, validation,
activation, should be specified. This would be equivalent to the
content normally contained in an email.
NOTE: This text will become a part of the Task History.
Current
Status:
When a task is being created, the status will be set to "Not Submitted". Once
a task is submitted, the status will change to "New Task". See
Status Options for detailed information
on each status.
Requested
By:
The Requested By field always contains the name of the person who created
the task.
Cc:
The Cc field allows you to send the automatic Task Notification email
to additional email addresses. Multiple email addresses may be entered
if separated by a semi-colon or comma. The Cc field entries will be retained
during the life of task unless manually deleted when the task is edited.
NOTE: If the person is the assignee, there is no need to include their
email address in the Cc: field.

Files may be attached to tasks after a task has been created. See Manage
Files for more details.
