Managing Attachments

Each task can have one or more files associated with it.

Accessing Attachments from the Task List

Once a task has been created, it will appear on the Task List.  The first column on the task list contains an image that is either a yellow folder or black paper clip.  A yellow folder indicates the task does not contain any associated file attachments.  Conversely, a paper clip indicates that at least one file attachment is associated with the current task.  Clicking on the image will open a new window that will allow you to attach or delete files associated with the current task.

Accessing Attachments from the Edit Task Form

While you're editing a task, you can also add/delete attachments.  At the bottom of the form, you will see a "Manage Files"  link.  Clicking on this link will open a new window that will allow you to attach or delete files associated with the current task.

WebTrack File Manager Window

Uploading
The Upload File section appears at the top of the manage file window.  You may enter the path where the file exists on your machine (example: C:\Temp\Changes.zip) or use the browse button to search for the file(s) you would like to upload.  Once you have specified the location and file, simply click on the "Upload" button.  A message will appear at the top of the window stating if the upload was successful.

NOTEWe recommend that you zip up all files associated with a task into one or two zip files.  This will keep your upload file size small and will therefore result in a faster upload/download time for both parties. Some characters cannot appear in a URL and therefore in your file names. Here is the list of characters that cannot appear in filenames uploaded to the web:
+, {, }, ¦, \, ^, ~, [, ], <, >, ," ,% ,# ,` ,& ,=

Downloading
At the bottom of the manage file window, a table with the File Name, Date/Time, and Size listing all files associated with the current task exists.   You may download a file by clicking on the file name and following standard procedure for a file download from the web.  If your browser is set up to automatically open a file rather than prompt for download, you may RIGHT CLICK on the file name and select "Save Target As" to download and save the file to your computer.

Removing Attachments Associated with a Task
If you'd like to remove a file from the task, check the mark to the left of the file name listed in the manage file window and click on the "Delete Checked Files" button. Once you close the window, the file will be removed.
